Nigerian universities are like concentration camps where undergraduates are treated like sulklings and it is the main reason why they end up babyish and unproductive as graduates. Unable to use their initiatives to solve problems like learned people.

In a university if this isn't abuse i wonder what is... Treating adults like children is not how to prepare them to face the real world.. Chai! Please do not tell me that what I just read about college [university] students being punished for not wearing their department uniform is true. How on God's green earth are college students required to wear uniform as if they are in elementary or high school? This is the highest order of absurdity that I have ever seen in my life. A university education is a place where students [young adults] are expected to learn and acquire different skills such a: 1. Reasoning, 2. Decision making. 3. Organization, 4. Research, 5. Persuasion, 6. Social networking, 7. Presenting ideas and 8. Time management. So, for a university to mandate that their students wear uniforms, helps to negate the process that should help these students to acquire such skills.

It's one thing to require that these adults conform to a certain dress code but to mandate a specific outfit to them albeit uniforms is beyond the pale. We wonder why our graduates are not upto par with their counterparts in other places besides the fact that our quality of education has fallen. When students are denied the ability to blaze their own trail, to reason and think outside the box, to question authority and to be non-conforming sometimes, our society loses because we are churning out graduates that are bereft of ideas and thoughts that should help propel a nation to a greater height. As long as the university administrators continue to treat their students as elementary and high school kids, they should expect them to behave just like kids! Enough said.
