Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun will tomorrow present the staff of office and instrument of appointment to the new Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir Obalanlege.

A statement yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital, by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, said Amosun had approved the appointment of Oba Obalanlege in accordance with Section 2 of the Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2006.

This followed the demise of Oba Moshood Alani Osanyintola Oyede of the Ikowogbe Ruling House, who joined his ancestors in May, 2016.

Oba Obalanlege, a Professor, was born on August 28, 1966, to the Ijemo-Isolosi Ruling House and was a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication at Crescent University in Abeokuta.


He holds a Ph.D in Communication Studies from the University of Antewerp, Belgium; a Master of Arts in Mass Communication from the University of Leicester, England; a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Journalism from Independent Colleges and Higher National Diploma from Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

He attended Ansar-Ud-Deen College, Isolo, Lagos State and Iganmode Grammar School in Ota, Ogun State.

The Olota is a member of Rotary Club, a fellow of Higher Education Academy (HEA) in the United Kingdom (UK); a member of Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) of London; a member of Public Relations Institute of Ireland (PRII) in Dublin and a member of International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR).
