According to the latest data released by the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, 9,383 road accidents were recorded in Nigeria with 66,998 people involved in these road accidents in 2017. This is a slight increase from 2016 where 65,467 people were involved in road accidents.

peed violations like overspeeding and maniacal driving were recorded as the major cause of these road accidents, showing the Cars, Minibuses, and Motorcycles as the vehicles involved in a very high percentage of the accidents.
FCT, Kaduna, Lagos, Niger, and Nasarawa are recorded as the states where the most accidents occurred.
