The occurrence of illegal deduction of airtime from the account of network suscribers in Nigeria, isn’t a new thing, that’s if you have been a customer of one of the network providers in Nigeria before now.

This occurrence has become so rampant and considered an act of inpunity.

One of such victims to have experienced illegal airtime deduction is Oluwole Aluko a legal practitioner.

in 2016 Mr Aluko sued MTN, alleging unlawful deduction of his call credit and in compliance with a Federal High Court judgment, MTN has paid Mr Aluko 500,000 naira.

The judge, Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel, of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, had in 2017 entered judgment in favour of the claimant when there was no representation for MTN throughout the hearing period until the judgment day.

But Abiola Olagunju and Fatiullah Tiamiyu later announced their representation for MTN, with an application asking the court to set aside its judgment against their client.
