You want all your children to get along and be happy, right? Here are ways to ensure that happens.

Start from the beginning
Sometimes, when you have a newborn, you may feel the need to focus all your attention on him/her. But if you have other kids, this should not happen. This is actually the time your older child needs you the most. He wants to know he has not been replaced and pushing him away to spend more time with the maid while you focus on the newborn is when that feeling of jealousy will begin.

Don’t spoil them
Spoilt children become jealous children. Don’t overdo it with all the gifts and attention. This will make them feel entitled and envious because they will always want more.

Give them all the same level of physical attention
If you hug one, you must hug the other. Snuggle with all your children and make them feel equally as important to and loved by you.

Compliment them both
A lot of parents have this habit of following a compliment of one child with a criticism of the other. This should not always go together. If one child does a good job at something, compliment them but also compliment the other for something else he/she is good at. If you have to scold, simply scold one child and try not to drive your point home by using that time to compliment the other child.
