Social media management is a business on its own, hence the manager can’t afford to mismanage the business, the success of the business is tied to the manager. Get a glimpse of the "DO's" and "DON’Ts” of social media marketing.

The 4 Golden DO's
1. Know your customers: Your social media pages should be tailored to your consumer base, not based on your own personal interests. Follow the 80/20 rule. 80 percent of your content (or more) should be relevant to THEM, while 20 percent or less can be specifically about your business, products or services.

2. Maximize Your Profile/Bio: Make sure all sections of your social media profiles are filled out accurately and completely. Contact address, Phone number Website, About Me, Mission, Location, Type of Business, etc.

3. Have a personality. Dull, boring posts lead to dull, boring results. You have to be excited about your company, your product and the services you can provide to your customers.

4. Create a content calendar and strategy: Creating a content calendar allows you to see how your social strategy will look on all channels on a monthly basis and maintain consistency.

When there are DO's it is expected to have DON’Ts.

1. Don't be spammy: If you are constantly posting the same information over and over or inundating your followers, you risk becoming a nuisance and could lose some of the followers you've worked so hard to attract.

2. Don’t ignore or delete negative comments: Every negative comment is an opportunity for you to turn it into a positive and demonstrate top-notch customer service. In today’s world, customers turn to social media for help first, instead of calling a customer service hotline.

3. Go Overboard with Automation: Automation is wonderful for certain tasks but can ultimately water down your brand messaging.

This might not be all you need for effective social media operation, but it’s enough to maintain a steady progress.
