Gernot Rorh has dropped his provisional squad for the World Cup in Russia. The likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Leon Balogun, Ahmed Miss, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Victor Moses and captain, John Obi Mikel made the list, but what should we expect from the Super Eagles?

We should be expecting a stronger contingent, an upgrade to the last appearance at the global showpiece in Brazil. The Super Eagles marshalled by the late Keshi bowed out at the second round to the French National team. Placed in arguably the group of death, the Super Eagles will be locking horns with South American power house, Argentina, as well as European countries,Croatia and Iceland.

Gernot Right will be relying on the attacking might of Victor Moses to propel the team past the group stages. The Chelsea midfielder has continued to shine at an unfamiliar wing back role at Chelsea. Super Eagles midfielder and Captain, John Obi Mikel will have to be at his creative best if Nigeria is to shine at Russia. The duo of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun have helped create the balance and stability at the heart of the defence.

A second round finish shouldn't be a bad campaign for the Super Eagles taking into consideration that we have a somewhat youthful side. A potential second round meeting with France is on the cards and a repeat of the tie at the same stage in 2014.
