A/An- There's no literal translation of 'a'/'an' but You can use 'one' to substitute 'a' and in Bini, that 'one' is called 'Okpa'.
Example ; I bought a shoe yesterday = I (pronounced as 'e') dè (bought) Ibata (shoe) okpa ( 'a') node (yesterday).
Attention: since 'dè' ends with a vowel (e) and 'Ibata' begins with a vowel (i), the last vowel in the preceding word becomes silent and the 2 words are pronounced together. 'Dè ibata' would be pronouced 'Dibata'

After - There's no literal translation of 'After' but You can make use of 'Later' as it's a synonym of 'After'. Later in Bini = Azekpe (pronounced that way)

Again- De ghè egbe. Example; Go again = De ghè egbe aghian. The previously explained rule applies here too. 'Ghè egbe' becomes 'Ghebge'(pronounced that way).

Almost- Tè (pronounced as tail if You make the 'L' silent)
Example; I almost fell = I tè dè

Always- No literal translation of 'always' but You can make use of 'Everytime'.
Everytime= Eghe ya

Because- You can use because. grin

Before- chè (?)
Come (as in I come)- Rè ( Future or past tense) dè ( present cont.)

Either- Either

Or- or
Find (as in I find)- No literal translation of 'Find', You can make use of 'see'.
See = Mioè (pronounced that way, don't know its real spelling)

From-

Go (as in I go)- ghìan

Goodbye- bye bye grin or vba azegbe = see You later

Happy- Oghogho

I am- I (pronounced 'e')

If- dè

In- uwè

I know- I ehèn

Disclaimer :Please, do not quote me anywhere. grin Trust not ma spellings but I think this will go a long way in helping.

This was hella stressful!! sad

Thanks Missy B. Edo language is not as single word meaningful as the English. Some English words would become phrases in Edo language. So a definitive translation could be meaningless. However, the following (in no particular order),might come in handy.

Again-do ghe gbe/we rrie gbe. As in 'ugha do ghe gbe/ugha we rrie gbe (rue). 'If you do it again'.

Always-eghe hia/ugbugbe hia. Also, substitute 'ever','forever' and 'everlasting' and you have 'etebite' and 'rinrinrin'.

Almost-ote ke kherhe

Come-rhe. I came-i rhe

Go-kpa. Same as 'leave'.

Because-rhunmwunda. Rhunmwunda rue-because of you

After-ogha zekpe

Know-renren. I know-I renren(pronounced 'en en') Missy B's 'Ehen' means 'fish' in Edo language. wink

Find-mien

Good bye-okhien vbo gha zekpe.

This is my little contribution. I am no Edo language professional . Just someone interested in the language and culture of the Edo people.

Currently, Nigeria is waging a war against corruption we
the state organs of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC). This war could be won if the arts are made an integral part of the crusade. Writers, playwrights, novelists, poets lists, poets, short story writers, filmmakers, visual artists and musician musicians could also be coopted into producing works that condemn corruption. In the same way, more emphasis should be placed on cultural industries in such areas as pottery, weaving, ceramics and textiles etc with a view to contributing to the Poverty Alleviation Programme.Traditional Nigerian architecture, as attested
by surviving relics at the palaces of the Emirs of Kano, Zazzua
and the Oba of Benin, are still wonders to behold by a people
whom the West choose to diminish their contribution to world
civilization. There would be a lot of savings in foreign exchange if research is directed on the utilisation of local raw materials and building technology in our efforts at better housing delivery.
Arts expressed in drama and masks have values which
transcend their aesthetic and recreational values. They also
serve as symbols of spiritual and political authority. They have
been found to be important vehicles of social and political
socialisation and for the transmission of culture from one generation
