Lemons are a natural disinfectant, and they smell so refreshing and this is why they are used in most domestic chores. Here are some four uses of lemon.

1. Disinfecting wooden chopping board

Every so often, you need to deep-clean your cutting boards. Here's how you can do it naturally. Pour salt onto your board and rotate your lemon into it. Squeeze the lemon so the juice comes out. After you scrub it really well, let it sit for about five minutes and then rinse off.

2. Making a natural cleaning solution

Pour one cup of vinegar and one cup of water into a spray bottle. Then push lemon slices into your solution. Allow the solution to sit for a week or two so the lemons infuse with water and vinegar.

Then spray your solution to dust your shelves, clean your windows, and do anything else that requires a cleaning solution.

3. Cleaning microwave

You know after you reheat spaghetti or soup in the microwave, inevitably there will be tomato-sauce splatters and carrot chunks spewed all over. Every once in a while, you’ll think, "Oh, I’ll wipe the mess up later. I’m starving."

Cut a lemon in half, place it in a bowl of water, and stick the bowl in the microwave. Turn it on for about a minute or two. The steam of the lemon water will hydrate the crusty food, which will make it easier to wipe clean.

4. Disinfecting kitchen sink

Pour some salt into your sink. Then take half of a lemon and scrub the salt into the sink. Not only does the lemon helps remove the germs, but it also removes the water spots.

When you’re done, toss the lemon into the garbage disposal to clean the blades. The fresh lemon aroma emitting from the disposal is sure to be a pleasant change to the funk that sometimes exudes from it.
