Yesterday (25th May), the European Union's law on data privacy, aptly called GDPR came into effect.

It requires any company that offer goods or services to EU citizens to comply with it.

As a Nigerian business, what's your business with this regulation?

Good question. This is because the law will be enforced if someone who is a EU citizen (irrespective of where he is living) or someone in EU zone visits your site or buys your product and services.

For companies and businesses that default, they are liable to a fine up to €20 million or 4% of the worldwide annual revenue.
