Papua New Guinea Bans Facebook For A Month by TechZiga: 9:38pm On May 30, 2018
News from Papua New Guinea says the country's government plans to bans the use of Facebook for a month. The reason behind the ban according to sources, is to crack down on “fake users” as well as study the effects the website is having on the population.

Making the announcement, the country's communication minister, Sam Basil revealed that they plans to investigate those using the platform and how what they are using it for. In his word;

"The time will allow information to be collected to identify users that hide behind fake accounts, users that upload pornographic images, users that post false and misleading information on Facebook to be filtered and removed. This will allow genuine people with real identities to use the social network responsibly."

Basil referred journalist to the Cambridge Analytica saga where personal information of millions of users was leaked. He said with such security breach, the country is checking to see what information are shared by its citizens. He also revealed that the country's government may consider creating a new social network site for its citizens if they find Facebook to be a threat.
