According to an eyewitness account, a Customs officer stopped a taxi carrying bags of rice in Uya Oron, Akwa Ibom State. The driver refused to stop and the officer shot one of the taxi tyres. The taxi then lost control and veered off lane to collide and eventually kill a cyclist. Youths in the area mobilized and attacked the Customs officials who escaped leaving their vehicle behind. The youths then descended on the abandoned vehicle

What annoys me most is if the smuggler had stopped, they will only have asked for bribe, they wouldn't have seized the rice. |
