Most construction done in this country are not supervised by our engineer body(COREN) but when it collapsed people will say our engineer are not good.
We need the BILL that will enforce all building construction to be supervised by COREN.

Not only substandard materials were used, I believe there is also design failure or comprise. Check d spacing of those reinforced slabs

Sometimes I wonder why ppl engaged in substandard material during construction honestly I don't get now check the aftermath effect of which you government will seize such property Pls if it will cost u 1milla to make a building solid spend it it's a one time expense not electing and got to afraid it might cave in one day

The cement is too little.

Cement is the gum that gums the sand granite and iron rods together.
If it is not enough, everything will collapse.

People just think to construct a building is just by putting steel in concrete, I can tell you that the building doesn't have a structural plan and our development control that should be checkmating stuff like that are no where to be found. Any building more than a storey needs an engineer for design n construction. RIP to the dead.

while we make progress in aspect of our engineering knowledge, we should be aware that there are insurance policies that can protect us from such liabilities, As builders.

In some cases, the reported incidence are based on human factors, which includes lack of regulated oversight compliance, fairly designed foundations, human activities on buildings, contractors cutting corners and if not outright avoidance of services of unqualified support professionals. It is time to apply the full weight of the law to sanction those found culpable in cases of building collapses.

look at the rebars in the stair case. you will understand it was a sub standard job. It was a building meant to kill people
