FG To Sack Unqualified Teachers In Dec. 2019 by agwom(m): 5:25am On Jun 10, 2018 |
The federal government yesterday said any teacher who fails a Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) prepared by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) before December 2019, would be dismissed from work. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Sunny Echono, made the announcement during a computer-based PQE in Abuja. He said the access and quality of teaching and learning must be improved at all levels. “In the past there was the shortage of teachers and many unqualified persons were taken to fill the gaps. Now, there are many qualified teachers who have been trained and certified and we have put December 2019 for anybody who is not certified as a teacher to be migrated from our classroom. They will find jobs elsewhere,” he said. He said there are many qualified teachers who are waiting to be employed and that states and the federal government have started giving them jobs. He said, “we recently employed over 1,000 qualified teachers in unity schools, so we are gradually weeding out the unqualified ones.” He said government would provide the necessary teaching and learning facilities in public schools. The Registrar of TRCN, Professor Josiah Olusegun Ajiboye, said about 22,000 would-be-teachers wrote the exam this month nationwide, including 900 in the FCT. Another exam is scheduled to hold in October. He said candidates with vision impairment have been registered but that the council was discussing with the Federal Collage of Education (Special), Oyo, to prepare their questions in Braille. He further stated that the council was working with some institutions to prepare questions in Arabic. https://www.dailytrust.com.ng/fg-to-sack-unqualified-teachers-in-dec-2019-255681.html 3 Likes

Teachers are being paid poorly the FG need to look into that too. Even people that study Education in the university don't want to be teachers. The pay is not encouraging 3 Likes |

Nice move We keep complaining that teachers are not well paid, but nobody complains about the quality of the teachers in question, if the Nigerian education sector will ever get better, then not only the salary should be increased, the quality of the teachers should be reviewed Teacher wey no sabi read Teacher wey no sabi write Teacher wey no dey come class Teacher wey dey give students mathematics as note to copy Teacher wey dey allergic to chalk Teacher wey dey flog till person pikin die Let's stop crying foul, I do not love El-rufai, but soon we will see the positive effect of sacking those dullards Asides the political undertone to this move, 90% of these teachers deserve to be sacked, I rather teach my son at home than allow some teachers talk to him 12 Likes 2 Shares |

My question is, how did they get employed initially? The system is so rotten, we know the region this will affect most but the federal might will work its way. 1 Like |

I support this move by the FG if only after the competency test, Teachers will earn more than president, senators and governors. and besides, President Muhammadu Buhari doesn't even have moral justification to oversee Such activity. he also failed his competency test. |

It will be great if the teaching profession is sanitized in Nigerian public schools. Intending teachers should have a look at this site, you may find it useful, we stumbled on it recently and must say its valuable for those looking out for a lucrative teaching career http://relearn.ng/network/index.html If you are a teacher or Student, you can download relevant teaching materials and Past Questions and Answers from Q and A App. Download Q and A App from Google Playstore. |

Chai, see Lai Mohammed method. Sack 5 million from all sectors and employ like 1.5 million. They will then use propaganda to inflate that 1.5 million to 5.5 million jobs created. |
