Nigerian Government Signs Mou On Mechanization With Namel by Nobody: 1:07am On Jun 15, 2018
The Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Audu Ogbeh and his team have signed a memorandum of understanding with the Nigerian Agricultural Mechanization & Equipment Leasing Co. - Namel and John Deere Tractors.

This is coming at a time when the call for improved agricultural practices is gaining momentum and attracting serious attention. According to Mr. Audu Ogbeh, "this signifies a landmark in our efforts to reposition Agriculture to serve and benefit Nigerian farmers, especially the smallholder. It is expected that by this development, that smallholder farmers can have improved to mechanization services for increased productivity which will enable them contribute more for the growth of the national economy.”
This program will be achieved through a leasing model to set up more Agricultural Equipment Hiring Enterprises (AEHEs) across the 774 Local Government Ares on a demand driven basis. According to Mr. Audu Ogbeh, "this AEHE model ensures that farmers don't have to won mechanized equipment before they can simply walk into any of the AEHE centers and pay a fee for land preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting and threshing, etc.”
The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is expected to contribute 35% counterpart fund of the total equipment to be deployed under this scheme.
