Celia Cuccittini, mother of Argentina's captain, Lionel Messi, has slammed critics of her son, saying their criticism 'hurts'. Argentina were favourite to win their first game at the world cup but could not breakdown a stubborn Iceland team with Messi cutting a frustrated figure throughout the match. The Barcelona star was subject to intense criticism after the match especially given the stellar performances of his rival, Cristiano Ronaldo the previous day.
