That Musa's 2nd goal is a typical world cup classic goal. He unilaterally created the chance, outran the defender, patiently beat the goalkeeper and clinically finished and delivered the goal.

They really put up a good game. I really loved his second goal.

He took it so well. He found the back of the net without a hitch. That was a really crazy moment, team work at it's finest. The Super Eagles deserve some accolades.

I knew Musa was going to do something extra-ordinary today when he was included in the lineup... Aside being a good and experienced player, I also saw a video of him on facebook sharing millions of #5000 each in envelopes to a lot of people in Northern Nigeria as "sadaka" (alms) aside bags of rice during their just concluded Ramadan fasting (note that spiritual exercises also affects physical manifestations at decisive moments).


After thought: BTW did you notice how Musa made the Iceland goal keeper to lie down in green pastures? grin (2nd goal)

Musa scores brace as Super Eagles defeat Iceland in Russia


Ahmed Musa scored twice as improved Super Eagles defeat Iceland in a Group D World Cup match at the Volgograd Arena, Russia on Friday.

A second-half salvo from Ahmed Musa saw Nigeria beat Iceland 2-0 at the Volgograd Arena and keep their World Cup dream alive.

The Super Eagles put in a disjointed showing in their opening match against Croatia, but posed far more threat against Iceland and took the lead when a scything counterattack was finished off by an emphatic Musa strike as he plucked the ball out of the air from Victor Moses’ cross and fired the ball past Hannes Halldórsson.

And the 25-year-old Musa, who was brought into the side to replace Alex Iwobi, added a second on 75 minutes to spark wild celebrations as he finished in an open net having rounded Halldórsson after beating Kári Árnason for pace.
