CONCERNED MEMBERS OF THE NURTW (AKA “THE EAGLE EYE”) THE JAMBOREE TAGGED NURTW @ 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION SLATED TO HOLD ON THE 2ND AUGUST, 2018 AT EAGLE SQUARE, ABUJA.

Bulletin No. 1

This bulletin is one of the bulletins designed by the concerned members of the NURTW (Aka “The Eagle Eye”) aimed at sensitizing the teeming members of the Union across the States of the Federation of the recent negative development being orchestrated by the leadership of the Union which if not check will in the nearest future destroy the Union as an organization and bring more hardship to the members.

It’s against this backdrop that we the concerned and patriotic members of the Union have decided to bail the cat or take the Bull by the horn by embarking on this sensitization exercise through series of publications like the one earlier released and now bulletin No. 1 with assurances of releasing more soon.

• What does the National President of the NURTW want to achieve from the proposed Jamboree tagged (NURTW @ 40) celebration slated to hold on 2nd August, 2018 at the Eagle Square Abuja.

• Haba! How can the leadership of the Union imposed compulsory levy of Four Thousand Naira (N4,000.00) to all members of the Union across the thirty six States of the Federation and Abuja the Federal Capital Territory for Ankara (Ashebi) and Fez Cap at this critical time of economic down turn when majority of them cannot afford three square meal per day yet they are being force to pay Four Thousand Naira for Ankara (Ashebi) and Fez Cap for the 40th Anniversary Celebration (Jamboree) of the Union.

• The question being asked by Union members is, is the occasion really designed to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Union which will clock forty years of its existence in August, 2018 or to use the plat form to extort money from members of the Union across the States of the Federation so as to further his hidden agenda of blocking his perceived enemies from contesting 2019 election through zonalization of National officer’s election?

• From our rough estimate, not less than between two hundred and fifty to three hundred million naira will be realized from the Ankara (Ashebi) and Fez Cap levy. This money can conveniently acquire between 125 to 150 quality Tokumbo Sharon Buses at the cost of 2m naira per Bus with each State having approximately 3&4 Buses respectively for members of the Union other than squandering it for a one day Jamboree that will add no value to the economic well being of the Union members.

• Does the Union really need forty thousand delegates in Abuja to celebrate NURTW @ 40? Where will the police get at least fifteen thousand personnel to provide security at the venue? Where will the FRSC going to get about five thousand personnel to effectively control traffic within the FCT and its environs considering the huge number of vehicular and human movement expected that day.

• NLC being the umbrella body of over thirty affiliates with over six millions memberships recently celebrated her 40th anniversary without compelling affiliates to contribute a damn. In order words the celebration was done in a low key in tandem with the present economic mood of the Country and in line with the change mantra of the present administration under the able leadership of President Mohammadu Buhari.

• The Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (M&HWUN) which is one of the richest Trade Unions in Nigeria also celebrated their 40th anniversary recently without taxing their members or compelling them to come to Abuja for the celebration. Apparently, this was done for the purpose of safety, orderliness and perhaps cost saving, hence the NLC and Medical & Health Workers Union of Nigeria decided to decentralized their celebration which was done both at the National and State levels. Why can’t the leadership of the Union who is also the Deputy President of the NLC take a queue from his counterpart?

• Furthermore, the ruling party (APC) with all financial, political and security muzzle at its disposal conducted its National convention with approximately seven thousand delegates only. Even with this number, five thousand policemen has been deployed to provide security with not less than two thousand four hundred para-military security agencies to handle traffic control in the FCT and its environs.

• The question members of the Union and the general public are asking is what really does the National President want to achieve from this lavish celebration at the detriment of the poor Union members??

• It is therefore high time for NAC members to wake up from slumber and save the Union from total disintegration and enslavement of Union’s members by the self styled sole administrator of the Union Alh. Najeem Usman Yasin.

Please read and pass it to another person while you are expecting bulletin No. 2.
