"We are working to power Nnewi Industrial Cluster with steady and business friendly power supply " - Hon Chris Azubogu

... Received report of REA study on Nnewi Industrial/Economic Cluster

The member representing Nnewi North / South /Ekwusigo Fed Constituency Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu has stated that he is working hard with other key stakeholders to save the only surviving indigenous Industrial Cluster in Nigeria .

According to The Authority Newspapers Legislator of the year 2017 awardee who received report of REA on Nnewi Economic Cluster last week ,
" We are working to power Nnewi Industrial Cluster with steady and business friendly power supply, that will not only keep them in the business ,but will help to expand their businesses and grow our economy " he said

It on record that ,in his quest to power Nnewi Industrial Cluster, the Anambra born Federal Lawmaker, attracted the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) to the Economic/ Industrial Cluster that is housing Nigerian's only Made in Nigeria Vehicles manufacturing plant , Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing (IVM) Company and several other businesses .

Hon Azubogu's unrelenting quest made REA to send study teams that researched on viability of REA intervention in Nigeria's most neglected Industrial Cluster . The outcome of the study was a win win for all the stakeholders involved .

According to him ,

" We are also working hard to ensure that the National Gas Master Plan is connected to this ever important Industrial Cluster and it has already been approved , while we are following it up "

The point is that the failure of this Nigeria's only remaining indigenous Industrial Cluster will send a wrong signal to business communities within and outside our country and her success will encourage both more investment from within and outside " he said .

Azubogu later added that Domestic Investors has suffered so much in Nigeria and the time has come for government and all stakeholders to pay attention to them.

The University of Nigeria , Nsukka trained Engineer went on to add that the ,

" Government has been in the habit of neglecting Indigenous investors , While we always give incentives to foreign investors , our domestic investors suffers. "

But funny enough , one of the easiest way to attract FDI is to use Direct Domestic Investment (DDI) channels and you can't achieve result on this angle without providing policy incentives for DDI to thrive " he said .

" I therefore call on all stakeholders especially our government at all levels to refocus on saving our Domestic Investment while working to attract Foreign investors .

I see energized Industrial / Commercial economy coming with capacity to absorb our employment crisis " Azubogu concludes .

The man many call "Mr Project" has been so focused on how to advance the economy of his Constituency .
