Fayose is a red stain on Yoruba values, O’odua groups

………. says past four years as rolling disaster

By Kemi Oluwole

The governor of Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose and all he represents have been described as a red stain on the core values of the Yoruba nation. In a statement on Friday, the Oodua Nationalist Coalition, (ONAC) said Mr Fayose has brought disgrace, embarrassment and insult to the Yoruba people all over the world. The group said while Mr Fayose owes workers’ salary to the tune of six months, he has bought a private get and several houses across the world.

The coalition has scheduled a press conference for Monday next week where all the groups plan to speak out against Fayose. The joint statement of the group made available to Irohinoodua was signed by Chief Bola Faleye and Diran Olokunle and 25 others said.

“There is a false personality in Ekiti state, an idolatry misfit whose sole aim is to lead our people by the nose, keep them underdeveloped and ensure their own understanding of development is skewed in favour of distribution of petty cash on the streets. Mr Fayose runs a government that wants to see Ekiti in the cesspool of underdevelopment and economic meltdown,” ONAC in the state signed by 25 Pan Yoruba groups stated. ONAC established in 2003, is a coalition of several Yoruba self-determination groups including the Agbekoya, Oodua Peoples Congress, (OPC), Yoruba Liberation Congress,(YLC), Oodua Peoples Nationality Movement, (OPNM) amongst many others.

The coalition said Ekiti state in the past four years has been administered without a tender’s board and that all contracts and disbursement of public funds were handled by Mr Fayose and his family.

ONAC said Ekiti has become a one man state, governed by the primitive instinct of a man of war whose antics are fertile on the field of deceit, lies, propaganda, high-tech and low tech crimes, violence and the complete annihilation of the people from power and governance. The group said nothing can represent the worst trait of humanity than what Mr Fayose did in 2014 when he came into the state house with a 1950 model Mercedez Benz but few weeks later bought a bullet proof car of 45 million jeep and as at now has a fleet of uncountable private cars.

The group described Mr Fayose as a man conscious to bring out the worst in Ekiti people by constantly idolizing poverty through this mediatricks expressed in the momentary pictures he takes with poor and vulnerable people which he uses to mock the people for pure electoral gains.

ONAC said it is the historic responsibility of Ekiti people and Yoruba in general to ensure that Mr Fayose and his rookies are kicked out of power on July 14. The group said the state needs to reclaim its lost grounds and the architectural masterpiece designed by Dr Fayemi when he came in 2014.

The group accused Mr Fayose of falsely presenting himself as an opposition figure and a lover of Yoruba nation when in the real sense, he is antithetical to what Yoruba people stand for. “His sloganeering of Yoruba freedom is a plot to cover up his murderous history and the horrendous crimes he committed against Ekiti people. He is a cultist, a violent man who is driven by terrifying mood swings and represents nothing but evil.

“What is going on in Ekiti is a disaster of the worst order. We have a man of questionable character presiding over one of the greatest sub-Yoruba groups whose values and character of honour are cherished all over the world. Mr Fayose has brought ridicule to the grandeur of the Yoruba people. Ekiti people and the entire Yoruba family must push him out by all means necessary.”
