prince_onx:LOL. I dont know where u got your info from. US embassies do issue 10yr Multiple entry visas. Although it is rare in nigeria, it is very common in other european and asian countries. Alot of people have their visas on an expired passport but they also carry an unexpired passport with them. The visa is valid regardless of the validity of the passport. A visa is only unusable after it expires or if it gets revoked by the issuing country. The US embassy will issue you a 2yrs/3yrs/10yrs multiple entry visa on a passport that expires in 6 months. The passport expires and not the visa itself. |

@Johnkent: and whats the "lol" for? I guess that was why I said I could be corrected!! the way things operate in Europe and Asian is way different from your so called country Nigeria. Visit the USembassynigeria website or better still go there yourself or ask those that have gone through it and educate yourself more on how they function in NIGERIA!!! not Europe or Asia. The only Country I have ever heard of 5days US visa is nigeria to attend a 3days conference! other countries will get atleast a month! you are lucky they still call you (Nigeria) a country. |

prince_onx: So, whats ur point?? ur just rambling about stuff that makes absolutely no sense. If you intend to spend only 4 days in the US, what difference does it make if u're given a 10 days visa or a month visa I really dont know were u get ur info from but here in the states, u usually get a schengen visa for the duration of days u'll be staying. My cousin got a 6 days schengen visa because thats how long she told them she was going to stay. Giving her a one month visa wouldnt make any sense cuz she wont be staying that long and she doesn't intend to be going back anytime soon. And i'll appreciate if you have some respect for Nigeria. i'm not sure where u're from but i bet ur country isn't any better than Nigeria. 3 Likes |

Re: Us Conference Visa by member65: 8:46pm On Jul 19, 2010 |
prince_onx:These statements are useless. How can you stand corrected when posters above you including me had already stated that it's possible to get a 10yrs US Visa? And no, it wasn't a recent change!!! |
Re: Us Conference Visa by princeonx: 8:52pm On Jul 19, 2010 |
@Johnkent: Now I know am wasting my time talking with you cause you're one of those people that insult people simply because they disagree with you or have different opinion from you. what is there to write home about if you're given a 5 days visa for a 3 days conference? you have only a day to be here and a day to get out! what if you decide to spend a day or two to shop for family and friends like others do? what happen if your flight get canceled or there's bad weather on the day you intend to travel? that means you'll have no option than to leave the next day (day 1 of your conference), what if there's no other flight leaving Nigeria to US until the day three of your conference? you'll get here and tell them at the port of entry that "Am here for a conference that ends today" and I will be leaving tomorrow! right? and before I forget what does Schengen visa have to do with US or their embassy since you're talking sense and full of it? Do you even know what a schegen visa is? I guess not! It only apply to the EU countries in Europe smart mouth!! Having said that, my point is that Nigerians are treated differently by the US embassies in Nigeria and other countries both Europe, Asian, and even most African countries are treated way better that us (YES am nigeria A55h0l=) and also live in US where schengen visa does not apply! |
Re: Us Conference Visa by johnkent(m): 9:06pm On Jul 19, 2010 |
prince_onx: Lord have mercy. In terms of the schengen visa, i was just trying to explain to you that it isnt just the US embassy that issues a few days visa; European embassies in the US do the same too to US legal residents. Your explanation about shopping and a few days after conference bla bla bla makes absolutely no sense. If you applied for a visa for a conference in the US, you should only be granted a visa for the duration of the conference. This is not a tourist visa. You are going to the US for work(conference). Thats why most embassies ask for an itinerary before they issue a visa so they can have a clearer picture of how long u intend to stay. You should know better if you do live in the states. I don't remember ever insulting you so i don't get why u need to use the A word. I guess that tells us what kinda person you are. Yo |
Re: Us Conference Visa by princeonx: 9:36pm On Jul 19, 2010 |
Visit, Business, Tourist, and Conference visa are the same category my friend (B1/B2). You don't need a different visa to go shoping after your conference. Its normal and comon for people to buy stuff when they visit here and incase you don't know once a Nigeria, always a Nigerian whether you live in Nigeria or US they'll still treat you the same. Even when you become a US citizen, your American passport will still say place of birth "Nigeria" so don't be surprise if you get the same treatment even here in the US consulates. just wasted 5mnts of my time that I will never get back! |
Re: Us Conference Visa by johnkent(m): 10:33pm On Jul 19, 2010 |
prince_onx:Ofcourse we all know they are all the same categories of visa but remember on the visa forms, they ask "reason for visit". Again, if you have an itinerary that shows a visit for 5 days, i think u should only be issued a 5 days visa especially for citizens of countries with a high rate of visa overstay. If you feel like u need some extra days before or after the conference, then get an itinerary that shows a 10 days trip. thats my 2 cents. |

Hi,I have got UK Travel document and I am originally from Iran. I have been invited for a conference in US and the company will fund my travel and accmodation. It is a 3 days conference but I would like to visit a friend and stay with her for atleaster a week after the conference as well. Now I have 2 questions. Do I need to mention anything about visiting her in my interview? seems like the officer in airport decides the time I can stay in the US with B1 Visa. So if I obtain 1 month single entry B1 visa then how can I make sure whether the airport officer let me to stay 1 week after the interview? I mean when I don't know what will happen in the airport and teh date of return then how I can book my return ticket? |

I so much appreciate your individual contributions. I was recently invited by my company for a meeting in the US. I am a first time traveller. I was issued a 2yr muliple entry. But the meeting has just been postponed as my other colleagues were denied.Below are my questions 1) Since i am not travelling on the date i stated on my DS160 form, what is d implication and what should I do? 2) Although it was stated 'Annotation' but i cant see any where on my visa where the date and location of my trip was stated. As some one said on this forum when Annotation is stated on your visa, the date/location will also be stated on the visa. 3) Although I applied for a B1 visa, it was stated on my visa B1/B2. Can I travel for non busines trip as in visiting? |

Good Morning Guyz. I need someone to advice me base on his/her Experience. I am applying for a US B1/B2 Visa. I am attending a Seminar, and the Only prove of attending the Seminar is my Registration Confirmation, which shows My Name, Registration ID, event Date and location. My Question is: Do I need a special invitation letter from the Seminar Organizer, or my Registration Confirmation is ok enough for me to apply for my visa. The Organizer insist they don't issue a letter. Please advice. |

Hello Intending US Conference Visa Applicants. If you don't have a traveling history. Don't bother applying for the conference visa. Because the CO would never you issue a visa. I usually advise intending US visa applicant, trying improving your traveling history, before applying for US visa |
Re: Us Conference Visa by kazman: 10:02pm On Dec 09, 2013 |
You are right man Pittbaby: As far as I know there is no separate category called Conference Visa , A business or tourist visa will be issued for an individual going for a conference . The US consulate issues a 2 year visa to Nigerians in the b1/b2 category . However at the port of entry you will be issued an I-94, which will be stamped with the latest date you can legally remain in the US . If you were granted a visa for going for a conference , you will be stamped per the conference dates or your airline tickets if they match the period of the conference dates to a reasonable degree |

@prince_one If you're issued a 10 yr visa and your passport expires, you can use the old passport and a valid new passport alongside the visa. What i mean is that the visa remains valid even if your passport expires. |
