SAKABULA is primarily a crude locally made gun. The name 'sakabula' is an onomatopoeia which derives from the sounds made when the gun is being operated. When you pull the trigger the small hammer-like iron at the top of the butt is forcefully released and strikes the iron plate opposite it making a sound 'saka'. This produces a spark which ignites the gun powder at the mouth of the gun barrel which also produces a flame 'bula' and a projectile is discharged throgh the gun barrel with a loud sound. This is why the gun is called SAKA-BULA.
Likewise any lantern made locally with a can or a broken pot and fitted with a wick or a piece of rag soaked in kerosine or palm oil which produces flame that cannot be regulated usually burns 'bula bula' is also called SAKABULA.
