Human Resources staff have identified a common mistake some job applicants make when they are sending out applications to positions available at a company.

Instead of focusing on selling themselves (as regards skills and experience), they are bent on making friends with whoever it is reading their letter.

Believe it or not, some applicants believe the friendlier they are in their letter, the more likely it is that they will get the job they are applying for.

Whoever came up with that idea is only grabbing at straws simply because it does not work!

Job applications are serious business, this is why one must do all s/he can to exhibit formality in all ramifications - from the application to the interview stages.

It is never in the favor of the applicant for him/her to start asking the human resource person about his/her health or telling the person that God will bless him/her if such applicant is considered for the job!

Some even go as far as pleading for the job, instead of just commenting on his/her achievements and skills tailored to the job in view!
