Considering the impressive palaces, jet-set lifestyles and celebrity status that goes along with being a member of the royal family, you might assume that they are all outlandishly wealthy. While they likely enjoy a higher level of wealth compared to most people residing on Planet Earth, they may not be quite wealthy enough to join the ranks of the super-rich. Although the exact figures are not known, a number of very capable people have devoted significant time and effort towards coming up with a reasonable estimate of the royal family’s wealth. These conclusions place their combined net worth somewhere between $775/£590 million and $1 billion / £750 million.

Few of us would turn down the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of their fortune, but there are far more impressive fortunes under the control of world leaders that might leave the British royals feeling a bit behind. For example, the king of Saudi Arabia is estimated to be worth around $17/£13 billion while Thailand’s top monarch is said to have a whopping $30/£23 billion under his control. Even some of her subjects have more wealth than Queen Elizabeth herself! What about the other royals? Here’s a look at what kind of cash the most-recognized royal family members may have at their disposal.

1. Queen Elizabeth

Starting, of course, with the queen herself, we discover that she has around $425/£320 million. A good portion of that is from real estate holdings, including both Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House. In addition, the queen is said to be in possession of a very valuable stamp collection, expensive jewelry and maybe even some good old-fashioned blue-chip stocks in her portfolio. Although it cannot be counted among her possessions, the queen also holds in trust an impressive collection of artwork that is thought to be worth between $10/£7.5 billion and $13/£10 billion.

2. Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh

Although the Queen’s husband isn’t quite as flush as she, he probably doesn’t have to worry about finding himself in line at the local soup kitchen anytime soon. Prince Phillip is thought to be worth somewhere in the vicinity of $39/£30 million. In addition to that, he also received an annual salary in exchange for carrying out his duties that amount to $460,000/£350,000. Whether or not he is still entitled to that benefit is unclear since he did retire from his public duties during the summer of 2017 at the age of 96, and who could blame him?

3. Prince Charles

Prince Charles has a very generous estate to thank for his estimated $1.3/£1 billion net worth, although there is an expiration date attached to the deal that allows him to profit from what is known as the Duchy of Cornwall. Unfortunately for Charles, the estate was established to provide income for the crown prince and when Charles someday moves on to serve as king, the benefits of the estate will be passed along to William, who will someday serve as Prince of Wales.

4. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge

With an estimated net worth of $40/£30 million at the age of 35, Prince William has a lot to be thankful for. William’s fortune comes, in part, from the inheritance left for him by his mother, Princess Diana. He also enjoys the benefits of a trust that was established by his great-grandmother, whose daughter is the reigning queen. William also receives a salary from his father as part of his duties as a member of the royal family.

5. . Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall

Marrying a prince surely has it’s financial benefits, but Camilla was far from destitute when she married Prince Charles in 2005. Prior to her induction into the royal family, she owned a home that was estimated to be worth around $2.5/£1.9 million. As the Duchess of Cornwall, she receives benefits from the Duchy of Cornwall estate in exchange for her royal duties like Prince Charles does. Her estimated net worth is said to be in the vicinity of $5/£3.8 million.

6. Prince Harry

As far as wealth goes, William is pretty much neck-and-neck with his older brother with about $40/£30 million. A significant portion of that wealth came from the $16/£12 million he inherited from his mother, Princess Diana, at the time of her death in 1997. Other sources of income include money he was given by his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, in addition to what he receives from his father in return for carrying out his royal duties.

7. Kate, Duchess of Cambridge

The glamorous Duchess of Cambridge is thought to have about $10/£7.5 million, and a generous portion of that is probably from her share of her family’s party-planning business. The British economy likely generates more wealth using her image than she personally owns, however. It is estimated she is indirectly responsible for billions of dollars that result from the sales of merchandise that can be associated with her. For example, just one public photo of Kate wearing a particular dress can easily result in a frenzy that ends with that particular dress being sold out in countries all over the world.

8. Prince Andrew, Duke of York

Although information on Prince Andrew is a bit dated, it’s still interesting to note that a 2012 estimate places his net worth at around $75/£57 million. Like many other members of the royal family, a good portion of his wealth is the result of a trust that was established for him when he was growing up. His royal salary consists of $408,000/£310,000 he receives annually from the queen, and he also benefits from a Royal Navy pension which is likely to be far less impressive than his other sources of income.

9. Princess Charlotte

Although she may look like a typical, cute 4-year-old, Charlotte’s wealth is estimated to be well above many of her royal relatives. Due to her value to the British fashion industry, her worth is estimated at a whopping $3.85/£3 billion. That would certainly buy a lot of Barbie dolls and lollipops, but like most kids, Charlotte will have to wait for adulthood before she can decide how she wants to spend her share of the royal fortune.

10. Princess Diana

Although Diana has been gone for more than twenty years, she is still near and dear to the hearts of millions of fans all around the world. Just prior to her death in 1997, she was thought to be worth approximately $22.5/£17 million due to the settlement she received following her divorce from Prince Charles. That money, along with the value of other personal belongings like jewelry, was passed on to her sons Prince William and Prince Harry who each received their inheritance on their 30th birthday.
