Of uniqueness of Abeokuta locations, and churches

While today there are obvious imprints of modern civilization in the ancient town of Abeokuta, the names of certain locations, notably former settlements, within the town continue to reveal her historical past, bearing certain uniqueness. A major uniqueness is the nomenclature of these locations which begin in prefixes such as Ìta, Òkè, Àgọ́, Ìsàlẹ̀, Ìdí.

Observers could also have taken note of some uniqueness that can be identified with some churches in the country.

A number of assemblies of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), even those built by the river bank, are referred to as Oke. Examples include: CAC, Oke-Igabala; CAC, Oke-Itura; CAC, Oke-Iye; CAC, Oke-Agbala; CAC, Oke-Aanu.

You need not trouble yourself when in search of a river, just try and locate any assembly of the Celestial Church of God (CCC) or Cherubim & Seraphim Church. They are either built by riverbanks or not too far from riverbanks. If you don't know this, just be on the lookout.

It is common to see a First Baptist Church, but never a second or a third. The Nigerian Baptist Convention may stand in a better position to explain why this is so.
