Mohammed Salah insists he remains full of pride for his accomplishments after losing out to Luka Modric for the UEFA Player of the Year award

The Egyptian king had an incredible debut campaign at Liverpool, which saw his 44 goals help fire the club into the Champions League final and secure a spot in the top four of the Premier League.

Salah’s displays last season saw him become the first Egyptian to be nominated for the UEFA Player of the Year award in a three-man shortlist.

Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo were the other nominees.

However, it was Modric who would emerge as the victor of the award.

But Salah remains proud of everything he has managed in the past 12 months.

“When you do something for the first time, nobody has done it as an Egyptian before, something great, it’s something I have to be proud of,” Salah said.

“There are 100million Egyptians who see me as a role model.

“That’s something I have to be very proud of.

“Sometimes you feel pressure because of that but it also makes you work harder to do your job better and better and better.”

Salah will be back in action for Liverpool’s trip to Leicester City tomorrow as the Reds look to maintain their 100% winning start to the new season...

Ronaldo is not the only player, other players are not there to share groundnut .

Only UEFA will organize an award and give every trophy to just one club.
