The biggest threat to jobs might not be physical robots, but intelligent software agents that can understand our questions and speak to us, integrating seamlessly with all the other programs we use at home and at work. And call centres are particularly at risk. A Chatbot is a computer program designed to simulate conversation with human users, especially over the Internet.

The term "ChatterBot" was originally coined by Michael Mauldin (creator of the first Verbot, Julia) in 1994 to describe these conversational programs. Today, most chatbots are either accessed via virtual assistants such as Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, via messaging apps such as Facebook Messenger or WeChat, or via individual organizations' apps and websites

Online chatbots save time and efforts by automating customer support. Gartner forecasts that by 2020, over 85% of customer interactions will be handled without a human.

However, the opportunites provided by chatbot systems go far beyond giving responses to customers’ inquiries. They are also used for other business tasks, like collecting information about users, helping to organize meetings and reducing overhead costs. There is no wonder that size of the chatbot market is growing exponentially.

Chat bots still require constant supervision from an admin/ human being. Software is never 100% perfect and humans are intuitive at deciphering a regular conversation from sequenced algorithms.
Real world customer service handled by humans is not going away anytime soon. Humans are versatile during conversations, something a chat bot is still eons away from learning.

I've always thought that you need to be a really experienced developer to create a well-working chatbot but turned out that it's not as hard as you might think. I mean, check out this article - https://blog.s-pro.io/need-know-chatbot-development/ . When all the basics are explained, you understand that things are much easier and if you have some basic skills, you can develop a chatbot yourself.

I recently found a very interesting article https://owlab.group/our-blog/post/5-development-phases-of-your-startup-a-step-by-step-guide. So, as they write there, round-the-clock communication with clients has always been a "headache" for many areas of business. And now that artificial intelligence technologies have reached sufficient development, chatbots are becoming the modern standard of service. Clients of any business always have questions, complaints, and wishes, but only some of them are unique. Standard answers take up most of the employees' time. For such situations, they developed chatbots. Are you guys annoyed by chatbots?
