Nigerians in the United States have been described as the most educated immigrant group. On average, more Nigerians hold graduate degrees than other demographics. I know many Nigerians with PhDs from the United States. While some have stayed back in the US, many have returned home to help develop our country. However, the cost of getting a Nigerian education vs. an American education differs greatly.

Nigeria has been blessed with many federal and state universities. There are also polytechnics, colleges of education, and private universities. While tuition in some of these institutions of higher learning in Nigeria may be viewed as relatively expensive by Nigerian residents (when you compare the cost of an education to costs and standard of living), they do not compare with tuition paid by international students overseas. Some have also complained about the fact that the curriculum in many Nigerian universities has not been updated to mirror present-day reality as is done frequently in institutions abroad.
