By: Olunike Asaolu The National Franchisor of Helen Doron Worldwide Educational Group and Chief Executive of Distinct Integrated Services Ltd, Mrs. Nike Agunbiade, has blamed the alarming rate of failure in mathematics and English Language among pupils in the country on wrong foundations. Agunbiade, who decried the alarming failure rate, disclosed that in the past few years in Nigeria, pupils' scores showed mass failure in maths and English at national examinations as evidenced in the over 75 per cent failure rate in the 2009 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination. She said, "Most pupils in the country are not given a strong foundation in basic subjects such as English language and mathematics at the formative years, and this sometimes leads to mass failure in these subjects. http://odili.net/news/source/2010/jul/2/803.html |
