In line with his avowed commitment to the provision of accessible and qualitative health care delivery to the people of the State, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN has approved the appointment of more health officers into the various state owned health institutions in the State.

Already, letters of appointments have been issued to about 244 successful candidates who participated in the examination and subsequent interview conducted on 8th June, 2018 by the Ondo State Hospital Management Board, HMB.

In August, the Governor established five additional Mother and Child Hospitals and declared free health services for children under age zero to five, and the vulnerable.

Governor Akeredolu had earlier secured N2.1bn Medical Equipment from US-based Firm - MedShare, a non-profit organisation in Atlanta.

Also, in August, the Governor procured medical equipment worth multi million naira to enhance primary healthcare services in the state health facilities. While inaugurating the equipment on Thursday, 23rd August in Akure, the Governor promised to improve the health sector and provide enabling environment with necessary working tools for health workers.

On 26th of February, 2018 Mr Governor signed the 'Contributory Health Insurance Scheme into law. The law will ensure that poor and vulnerable have guaranteed basic minimum package as defined under the National Health Care Act and equitable distribution of health care costs across different income groups.

Invariably, to ensure a complete overhaul and total upgrade of the health sector in the State, Mr Governor has approved the appointments of the under listed health officers :

5 Dental officers
5 Dental Technologist
5 Dental Therapists
20 Medical Record Officers
16 Medical Lab. Scientists
50 Medical Officers
95 Nurses/Midwives
5 Physiotherapists
12 Pharmacists
5 Radiographers
5 Psychologists
5 Scientific Officers

The new health officers are successful candidates who participated in the examination and subsequent interview conducted by Ondo State Hospital Management Board.

Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu is determined to bringing qualitative, affordable and comprehensive health care services to the door steps of the people.
