How do you win an undefeated foe? By knocking him out in the 7th round. Joshua didn’t need the fight to last the entire 12 rounds. He was in a hurry to go home, so he decided to knock out the undefeated Russian, Alexander Povetkin in the 7th round. LOL. Cos’ he has a Nigerian blood, the Nigerian-British also wanted to maintain his undefeated status. This is his 22 wins, undefeated world champion. Alexander had started very well in the fight by an early onslaught which saw Joshua suffered a bloodied nose. But Joshua started gaining confidence and using his powerful accurate left hand to overwhelm Alexander. Joshua blasted Alexander to the canvas with a brutal assault in the seventh round and then floored him. Alexander had never been stopped before and only lost one fight. Joshua will retain his WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles. Had Alexander won, Joshua would have lost all titles to him. Wrong headline , Povetkin was first defeated by Klitschko in 2013. This is his 2nd defeat as a professional heavy weight boxer. |
