Even with the lauch of Nigersat 1 and the Glo1 Submarine cable, internet speed in nigeria is still a nightmare.
Nigerian ISPs are feasting on the ignorant and deperate public.
ISPs in Nigeria are still charging an average of N16,000 per month for single point consumer connection. This amount is outrageous. More frustration is the services is as slow as a snail! It is either the server is down or they are doing technical maintenance!

I remember some few years ago I was paying N20,000 per month for a single point internet connection to a telecom company that first intoduced EVDO.

It is frustrating. Nigerian internet penetration rate will remain low. The government is not even doing anything on this. The so call NigerSat 1 IS A FRAUD. I understand they want to launch another SAT2!

Internet services arrived in Nigeria in 1996; five years later the number of subscribers remains at a level of about 20 000. The reason for this is twofold:

lack of disposable income and correspondingly low computer penetration level,
what is more important, lack of telecommunications infrastructure conducive to internet usage proliferation.
