Paul Pogba and Jose Mourinho were both pictured looking stern after an exchange of words during Manchester United's training session this morning.

Pogba and Mourinho's relationship appears to have gotten far worse than expected after a tense training ground alteration.

A video of the duo emerged in a bad looking exchange during Manchester United's training at Carrington this morning.

The incident occurred less than 24 hours after Pogba was left out of United's squad for the Carabao Cup match against Derby County.

The midfielder was in the stands at Old Trafford on Tuesday night but left early and Mourinho subsequently confirmed the World Cup winner has been stripped of the United vice-captaincy.

In the training footage, Pogba was seen jogging past Mourinho to greet members of the coaching staff.

However, the Red Devils manager appeared to say something which stopped the star man in his tracks.

The pair exchanged words which resulted in Pogba giving his Portuguese boss a furious stare.

Both Pogba and Mourinho continued talking as they moved away from each other, with other members of the team awkwardly looking on.

The headline duo have been at loggerheads all season, with Pogba most recently critical of United’s style of play after a 1-1 draw with Wolves.

Mourinho is understood to be furious with his player’s desire to join Barcelona, although a return to Juventus has also been suggested.

After Mourinho stripped Pogba of captaincy, a video has emerged of the pair exchanging heated words during a training session in Carrington.

José can be heard saying: "Take Paul home. Paul, get out."

United shared official pictures of the session on their Twitter account, although the tense moment was not captured.
