1 Iker Casillas (Spain): Regarded by many as the best goalkeeper in the world and he has shown just why. He has been very instrumental to Spain's run up to the final with countless numbers of great saves.
Honourable Mention: Richard Kingson (Ghana)

2 Sergio Ramos (Spain): Ramos is one of the players that really shone at this world cup. His performances have been nothing short of excellent. He is rock solid at the back and also a threat when making his trademark dashing runs up front.
Honourable Mentions: Gregory van Der Wiel (Holland), Phillip Lahm (Germany)

3 Fucile (Uruguay): He really announced himself at this world cup with his dazzlin performances. He brings in the right mix of defensive grit and offensive play and has been one of the better players in the Uruguay team. Dom't be surprised if you see him playing in your club when the new season begins.
Honourable Mentions: Jerome Boateng(Germany), Juan Capdevilla(Spain), Fabio Contreao(Portugal)

4 Raul Meireles (Portugal): Portugal may have gone as far as the round of 16 but this Porto man showed class with every display. He truly caught the eye not only with his many tattoos but also with his breathtaking displays. A midfield general, his brilliant off the ball runs was a challenge for the opposition and was particularly outstanding in the game against North Korea which Portugal won 7-0.
Honourable Mentions: Nigel de Jong(Holland), Diego Perez(Uruguay), Samir Khedira(Germany)

5 John Mensah(Ghana): The strong centre back put up very decent performances in an impressive Ghanian side.

6 Gerrard Pique(Spain): The young Spainard has been at the heart of a Spanish defence that only let in two goals in the run up to the final. Solid at the back and his height also gives him a strong aerial presence when going forward.
Honourable Mentions: John Heitinga(Holland), Victorino(Uruguay)

7 Xavi(Spain): The best midfielder in the world. He needs no introduction. He is the engine room of the Spanish team. With 80% pass accuracy and 509 passes completed so far, he is behind Dunga(589 passes) in the all time record for the number of passes completed at the world cup and with one more game, there is no doubt he can become the all time best passer in the history of the world cup.
Honourable Mentions: Bastian Schweinstiger(Germany), Kevin Prince Boateng(Ghana)

8 Thomas Muller(Germany): The swashbuckling, all action forward has been an integral part of a young and vibrant German side that have been impressive at the mundial. Muller has scored four times and made three assists and is one player to watch out for in the future.
Honourable Mention: Diego Forlan(Uruguay)

9 David Villa(Spain): 7 times Spain have scored at this world cup, 5 times, it has been Villa. The diminutive Spanish hit man who recently signed for Barcelona has proven why he is regarded as the world's most complete striker in many quarters. With one game to go, he might just increase his tally and pick up the golden boot.
Honourable Mention: Luis Suarez(Uruguay)

10 Wesley Sneijder(Holland): His brilliant form all season for Inter continued at the mundial and with 5 goals, he is one of the major reasons the Netherlands will be playing in the final.
Honourable Mentions: Andres Iniesta(Spain), Cristian Riveros(Paraguay)

11. Mesut Ozil(Germany): If the 2010 world cup were a book, Mesut Ozil would be a chapter. The young German emerged from obscurity to leave an indelible boot-print at this world cup. He is the focal point of an awe-inspiring German side that put four past England and Argentina. With one goal and three assists, he is already one of the most sought after talents in Europe right now.
