Lust is Multi-dimensional. It encompasses;
Lust for Money
Lust for Sex
Lust for KNOWLEDGE
Lust for Pleasure.
And more.

The scriptures categorises all these as Love of the World, viz;
Lust of the Eyes
Lust of the Flesh
and Pride of Life

For the benefit of this discussion let me clarify that I'm referring to Lust for Sex.

That fire inside our pants that if we don't consume, can consume us.

The first step to overcoming lust is to change our knowledge and perception of it.
We have been told and taught that once you taste of the forbidden fruit there is no turning back.
That is a lie.

1. Sex is not the forbidden fruit.
2. Sex is a godly act. To be indulged only after marriage.
3. Sex can be controlled. You can choose to become celibate and abstain from having sex again. It is a choice.

Lust cannot be carnally overcome. It can only be postponed carnally.
To overcome lust, you need Christ.
You need His Word.
You need to confront your lustful yearnings by confessing the Word of God anytime the urge comes. How?
You look for the scriptures that talk about overcoming lust, that talk about the destructive power of lust, formication and adultery. Scriptures that make you realise the gravity of its destructive power and those it has destroyed. You envision yourself in their shoes.
You constantly pray and meditate upon them.

You clearly need to choose your associations carefully.
Most of our habits are imbibed socially from our friends, families, online and colleagues.
If you want to stop drinking, clearly you have to stop being in companies that go to drinking joints.
And for sex, minimize interactions with friends, families and collegues that glorify and celebrate fotication and adultery.

Also, if you are in a sexual relationship, you know what to do. You have to talk about it. If your partner can't stop (which is almost always the case) you have to terminate the relationship. It is ungodly and will destroy you.

In short as aptly put, FLEE FROM ALL APPEARANCE OF EVIL

For sexual immoralities that are privately destroying our generation, viz masturbation and homosexualism.
Clearly same applies.
Stop watching movies that subtly colonise you into homosexualism viz Empire, Modern Family, etc

Delete pornographic materials from phones and laptops. This cannot be over-emphasized.

But this is not where it stops.
Even doctors will advise you not to quit smoking without nicotine gum.
Every bad habit must be replaced with good habits.
An idle mind truly is the devil's workshop.

Spend more time outdoors, if indoors makes you prone to sexual immoralities.
Spend more time indoors if outside makes you prone to sexual immoralities.

Week days Fellowship is not for jobless people.
It's also to help us keep ourselves busy with Christ so that we are not workshop for devil.

For by means of a harlot
A man is reduced to a crust of bread;
And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life.
Proverbs 6:26

A whole human being is walking around not knowing he has been turned to a crust of bread.
It sounds funny till you understand that this is found is the book of Proverbs, book of God's Wisdom. Meaning it is deeper than surface understanding.

True sir.
The first step is to identify it as your problem and to know it is destroying you and your destiny.
The next is to genuinely turn to Christ for solution.
Decide and be deliberate that you want to know Christ personally.
This thread describes how I overcame it.
I didn't overcome it in one day but in months God took absolute control.

He's always ready and willing to do the same for everyone, for as many as turn to Him genuinely.
