you really need to read what google plans to do to counter this move, in simple terms; for every devices sold with android os without google services (chrome etc) the manufacturer would have to pay a fee, (similar ways bill gates Microsoft earns from all PC manufacturers worldwide), google holds the Legal right and patent over android and they decides who gets it free and who pays what. However even if manufacturers strip their phones of google service from factory, users can still download gmail, google chrome YouTube etc by them self

my friend that sees the future of Google and Microsoft while the former is gonna die soonest the latter will release new innovative products(they are yet to do that for years now). Yes, Google is did just that and they are having a taste of their own medicine and all these will be corrected with Fuchsia, the OS will be ready for public use by 2020.

Making it open source is what made them dominate the market. There are many better OS out there. I particularly prefer the BlackBerry OS. It is the openess and flexibility (being customizable by both manufacturers and end users) that is their strength.

Google app suite is the best in the market infact that is the main attraction to the os.....a lot of people including me can't do without Google apps... Even iOS folks install Google apps

The bolded on the OP's post is misleading. Google maintained that Android is free and a open source project. Who they are charging are the phone manufacturers that will put Google apps on their phones and not the phone users.

Phone manufacturers like Samsung and the likes will only pay for Google apps and not Android OS itself.

Google also maintained that they won't force any manufacturer to preload their devices with Google apps, rather any manufacturer that wants to preload their apps with Google apps will have to pay for the apps.

That doesn't mean that users will purchase the apps even if manufacturers refuses to preload Google apps on their phones.

Either way whatever they are paying to google will find its way to the end user. Business is business. The op caption is not misleading.
