Thoughts on creating more jobs in Nigeria
========

Irrespective of who becomes President of Nigeria, things will remain the same if the right things are not done.
Jobs and more jobs will be created if we did the right things. It would cause some disruptions but in the long run, the gains will be evident to all. I will give some examples.

=======
Food hygiene certification and inspection
=======
Create a website /portal, link to a database, and have all food vendors (fast food joints, restaurants, eateries, mobile vendors, etc) rated there. Inspectors will inspect, certify and rate the business.
Everyone in food business would need to show the food hygiene inspectors their processes and the environment where the food is being prepared.
====
The inspectors will come unannounced. There 'll be guidelines or standards made public that will be used in ratings.
The public can check the hygiene ratings online via the website or portal created which is linked to the database. Or USSD app can be made to enable the public check for hygiene ratings of food vendors even offline.

=========
No hygiene certificate, No food business.
==========

Disruptive, Yes, but necessary....

========
Direct Jobs to be created:
========
Food hygiene inspectors
Licensed hygiene cert trainers
Database developers & admin
Web developers and managers
Mobile App developers
Network security
Public awareness (volunteers)
Social media managers
Customer service
Etc.

=======
Funding Sources
=======
Payments (relatively affordable) from food vendors for registration and hygiene certification. - They go to register specify their address, and would be visited unannounced by inspectors.
=====
Penalty or fines for vendors with no hygiene certification.

========
Possible Challenges
=======
Hygiene inspectors can be bribed or influenced to give higher ratings or pass a food business that should be failed.
Hygiene inspectors Intimidation or work interference by VVIPs.
Ratings manipulation thru the web managers.
====
These are workable.

Tough changes must be made, many will kick against it, but the gains (Jobs, public safety, less burden on healthcare) far outweighs the loss
=====
Imagine paying your own money to buy the food that will make you sick. It doesn't have to remain so. A better Nigeria is possible.
