PILE / HEMORRHOIDS

Pile is another name for Hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are collection of inflamed tissue in the anal canal. Many people have pile but the symptoms are not always obvious. The sizes of pile varies, and they are found inside or outside the anus.

SYMPTOMS

1. A hard possibly painful lump may be felt around the anus, It may contain coagulated blood.
2. After passing a stool, a person with pile may experience that the bowel is still full.
3. Bright red blood is possible after a bowel movement.
4. The area around the anus is always itching, red and sore.
5. Pain occur during the passing of stool.
Pile can escalate into the following severe condition:
* Excessive anal bleeding ( can leads to anemia)
* Infection
* Inability to control bowel movement
* Analfistula, in which a new channel is created between the surface of the skin near the anus and inside of the anus

CLASSIFICATION OF PILE

1) GRADE 1: There are small inflammation usually inside the lining of the anus, they are not visible.
2) GRADE 2: They are larger than grade1 pile, they also remain inside the anus, they may get pushed out during the passing of stool.
3) GRADE 3: They are also prolapsed hemorrhoids and they appear outside the anus, hanging from the rectum.
4) GRADE 4: They can not be pushed back and need immediate treatment. They are extremely large and remain outside the anus.

CAUSES OF PILE

1. Pile are caused by Increased pressure in the lower rectum
2. The blood vessels around the anus and the rectum will stretched under pressure and may swell or bulge, forming piles. This may be due to:
* Chronic constipation
* Chronic diarrhea
* Lifting heavy weight
* Pregnancy
* Straining during pregnancy
