I am stuck between buying a foreign used of the three cars listed. Budget or much talked about 2nd hand value that makes Toyota most preffered brand isnt really the issue here but realiabilty and maintainance cost.

I really love the C300 inside out and the allure is the class I desire, yet I want a car that will be there for me always with resonable maintainance cost and safe of chronic problems. I may also prefer the CC's allure to IS 250 if I can be rightly adviced on common technical issues with any of those cars in the short and long term as I am not looking to change a car anytime soon.

I tried to read up and research on the three cars but I m not getting the direct comparison that can influence my decision. Right now I m confused.

I kinda agree cos of its fuel efficiency. CC is also the cheapest to maintain of the 3 and it's also cheap to buy. I drive C300 and it's sweet Car. Don't know of IS.

Any idea of the key parts such as absorber, sterring rack s, linkages, etc?

How about system malfunctions? I experience such with the car (DC) I currently drive, it will not ramp beyond 3 and it has proven to be a chronic fault.

My formal neigbour who drives 2010 C350 is freaking me out. In his words,"egbon se e ti lowo sha? Be ready to do transfer for major repair as it is always more than the cash at hand." His wife added, "I have told him to sell the car to buy Toyota camry '14". Now I dont have such money to constantly spend on a car (No problem if its not frequent). Also no problem with the high cost of servicing and I m a deligent user.

Like I earlier mentioned, my confusion is majorly because I am in love with the allure of Benz and only considering CC because its allure competes. Lexus is cool but without the wow factor and I will only buy it if I dont get a satisfactory advice on the preffered duo.

Why don't you think outside the box and maybe go for an infiniti?
I'd suggest the 2010 Infiniti G37.

Last time it had check engine lights on, took it to mechanic and was told cylinders misfired. The mechanic said its most likely the coil or spark plug. To cut long story short, I spent 179k. The car parts expensive . I changed fuel pump 25k
Serviced with Mobil 1 35k
Changes one stuff in between the v shape engine 40k
Spark plugs 24k
Coils(4) 32k.
The balance was workmanship

That's the only time I have had to spend money

If you must use a Benz in an affordable manner... DIY is a must and diagnostic tools are essential.

4matic is a no o. The rear wheel drive is even cheaper. I bought mine salvaged on iaai and it was very cheap landing it. Total cost plus repair was less than 3m.

I actually planned selling but later decided to use it.

I'll go with the 2010 IS250. The German machines got prestige but with a higher cost of maintenance and faster devaluation. The IS is equally a very solid ride, a little less expensive to maintain and will have a better resale value in 3 yrs from now.

About speed and power, do they really make any difference considering our roads? You have to intermittently slow down anyways.

It is now a final battle between Cc and C300 though I m favouring cc being that the interior matches the C300 if not better and it is not as common on the road and dealer's shop as C300. I also realized reading through the manuals cc is smarter than C300 ( maybe because of the difference in model). It may also have better 2nd hand value( although not important). Then it saves me approximately 500k at the point of purchase (which cant be wished away)

Power and speed are not so important. Considering our roads and my driving philosophy, I won't need them 95% of my time on the wheel. So the major advantage C300 may have is nulified.

Like a friend told me, modern cars come with relatively high maintainance irrespective of brand and an owner must be prepared to spend occassionally. He believes unless a car is unfortunately bought with an hidden chronic problem, modern cars don't break down frequently if deligently used. He also believes none of the cars is beyond my maintainance capacity.

Now that I have disposed off my old car, I will just make a final stop and choose between the best I can find of the two.

That guy sounds like he's chatting shite. RWD models are lighter and have less power loss to the wheels. Also more fun to drive. Only thing AWD helps with is traction and handling.

I'll say this again, buy the Lexus. Or if you must, buy an Infiniti G or an Acura TL with SH-AWD.

Somebody should FRAME this statement on a hi-res signboard and mount it on Lekki Expressway, just after the toll plaza, for all to see.

You can't afford to have your mechanics misdiagnose a fault and, by the time you they realise it, you've dished out 200k.

Well, unless you truly can afford it and you are the casual (feel good) owner type who knows next to nothing about holding a spanner and getting your hands dirty.

Besides, the best part of owning a performance vehicle is the feeling of working your own hands dirty on the beast in your garage. Plmp My Ride comes to mind. You won't understand that feeling until you experience the joy of it.

PS: don't try this (=DIY) if your ride is new or very young. Otherwise, it's goodbye to your warranty! You've been warned.

Considering our roads, you would want power so you don't get stuck. 4MATIC would prevent that scenario at least to a very successful high degree.
Speed is useless in Nigerian pot-hole infested roads.
