CAN reacts to the threat of peace in Akwa Ibom State.

The State chapter of AKS CAN has noted with sadness and disappointment the recent incident that took place in the AKHA over an issue that could have otherwise been resolved amicably.

In a swift remark by its chairman, Rev Dr Ndueso Ekwere, CAN wishes to remind everyone in Akwa Ibom State no matter his or her standing that no one holds the monopoly of citizenship of the State freely given to us by God himself.

He reminded politicians from which ever direction that God will hold anybody who directly or indirectly initiates or causes crises in the State responsible for his actions or inactions. He condemns in very strong terms such political instability and confusion just introduced into the State which God has blessed with sustainable peace so far. Rev Dr Ekwere therefore called on all parties concerned to sheath their swords in the interest of their father land. To forestall a repeat of this kind of nasty scene especially as we approach very closely the general elections in the country.

CAN suggests to the Governor to inaugurate a 'Peace Committee ' which will include representatives of Religious leaders from CAN, political stakeholders, traditional leaders, INEC, Youths, Women and Security agency.

This committee will formulate a treaty that will be binding on all and will to a large extent regulate the actions /inactions and utterances of careless people. 2019 elections will come and go but Akwa Ibom State will remain by the grace of God
LET THERE BE PEACE.

this what I expect from CAN. Rather than paying homage to money-bag politicians. They should look at the politicians in their faces and tell them the truth.
