Tottenham Hotspur 3 – 1 Chelsea – Tottenham
outplayed Chelsea to inflict the Blues’ first
Premier
League defeat of the season and move above
their
opponents in the table.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side displayed a terrific
performance to go up a place to third, five
points
behind unbeaten leaders Manchester City, while
Chelsea drop down to fourth.
Spurs deservedly scored two goals in the first
16
minutes through midfielder Dele Alli’s flicked
header
from Christian Eriksen’s cross, and Harry Kane
firing in
a drive from long range. Tottenham’s Dele Alli
has
scored six goals in his last five games against
Chelsea.
Son Heung-min had struck straight at
goalkeeper Kepa
Arrizabalaga when through on goal, and saw a
volley
pushed away before scoring a brilliant goal in
the
second half.
The South Korean forward picked the ball up on
the
halfway line, outpaced Jorginho and darted
past David
Luiz before rolling a cool finish into the net.
Chelsea did manage to pull a goal back with
five
minutes remaining through substitute Olivier
Giroud’s
powerful header low into the corner.

1. 8′ 1 – 0 Dele Alli header opens scoring! It
had
been coming. A lovely floated free-kick in from
the right by Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli gets in
front of his marker at the near post and
glances
a header past Kepa Arrizabalaga. Tottenham
lead, and they deserve it.
2. 16′ 2 – 0 Harry Kane adds second from long
range to scores his 11th of the season. Great
strike. Harry Kane picks up the ball 35 yards
from goal, he is able to stride forward
unchallenged with the visiting defence backing
off and he unleashes a low effort from 25
yards.
Kepa, in the Chelsea goal, is unsighted and
does
not move as the ball nestles in the bottom
corner. Tottenham in dreamland with this start.
Chelsea’s unbeaten league run in grave danger
of
going today.
3. 54′ 3 – 0 Son Heung-min scores brilliant
solo
goal to make it 3-0! A wonderful individual
goal.
Brilliant from Son Heung-min. Dele Alli, in his
own half, plays the ball forward and the South
Korean collects it by the halfway line. He runs
to
the right wing and there seems to be no
danger,
Jorginho is not good enough to stop him,
David
Luiz comes across but the challenge is a
pathetic one, Son keeps running and dribbles
into the box and slides it past Kepa
Arrizabalaga. Great goal.
4. 85′ 3 – 1 Olivier Giroud pulls back one! This
game had been screaming out for Olivier
Giroud,
but he only came on at the 75-minute mark.
Within 10 minutes he has the ball in the back
of
the net. It is a fine cross from Cesar
Azpilicueta,
Giroud does what Giroud does, gets up well
and
heads it powerfully into the net past Hugo
Lloris.
Five minutes and injury time for Chelsea to
score
two and produce one of the most amazing
comebacks of all time.
