This current government is a scam.... You promise them, you did not fulfil... Now they demand another, you are implementing no work, no pay. Well I trust them this won't change anything because they are not those who earn 18k per month. Their previous salaries will keep them till next year. Mtcheew Buhari is scam

grin Salary earners spend their pay before it comes. What manner of Christmas would one have without November and December salary?

The FG is acting like a clown. They just made a volatile situation explosive.
ASUU doesn't succumb to all these nonsense, they tried it in 2013 and it didn't work. Their job is to teach and research and so far research is ongoing so how do you now say they aren't working.. Lolz.
Nigerian students brace up. The Federal Government of Nigeria will pay and before that, these strike might last for 6 months.

ASUU is satanic, so with their incessant strikes they still get paid for work not done? Now I know the cause of the quality of the graduates we have from these schools.

May the devil reward all ASUU members in their own coins appropriately.

You owe people 7 years earned allowances and you expect them not to complain. Some of you act plain stupid simply because you support the govt in power and most of you are hungry.

You know federal Uni lecturers are actually earning more than they can spend.. I am sure they will be okay. Unlike some other workers who will instantly resume work once they heard no work, no pay

Get your facts right, which 7 years allowances?.
Their claims are almost cleared up, this recent strike is on the general funding of the universities amenities and infalstructures.
Must they sacrifice the children's education every time they have an ax to grind with the government?

It's only for a while. They would begin feeling the heat as soon. Many of them take consultancy job, that may sustain them for this period.

Haba! ! is that how a Nigerian university will be rated among The best in Africa.
The federal Government should also implement and order all political appointee , Commissioner, Ministers, Governor and the presidency to send their children to Federal Univeristies in Nigeria.
Until their children school in Nigeria, these selfish leaders will not spend adequately on our university.

A lot of people are shouting government this government that.. the truth be told if all these things ASUU are clamoring about be provide (lab equipment and all) please would it be properly maintained. We Nigerian have to check ourselves 1st and have the maintenance culture but asking for expensive equipment that if provide would not last 1 year b4 everything is not functioning properly again in the hands of students

For example, in Lagos State where the government invest a lot in road construction imagine people in some areas going to dump refuse on the road. Please in a sane country is that proper? And decomposing of those toxic waste would cause the quality of the road to deteriorate over time. Please let's learn to have maintenance culture before demanding to things

You sound very aggrieved. ASUU is not your problem but the successive FG who feel you deserve the worst while they send their wards to the best schools abroad.

As long as the FG wants to play hard, this strike may last up to year cos they are that determined and very ready.

ASUU is not a kiddies union you can threaten with salaries. Concerning research, you know absolutely nothing about the quality of research ongoing in our universities.

Continue siding with the politicians while they degrade the tertiary education system even your grand kids will Be ashamed off just like the primary and secondary schools.

The Federal Government should withhold the salaries of all Academic Staff if they want the No Work No Pay directive to be successful. Otherwise, the Vice Chancellors and the various Universities will keep paying the striking Lecturers therefore, emboldening them to be adamant on their position.

FG, should find out the actual personnel cost of each University Academic Staff and deduct it before giving the various universities their monthly salary allocations.
...Abacha, IBB, obj, gej...they all tried it... It will fail eventually... It will just worsen the case

They don't give monthly salary allocation. Salaries are paid directly to staff from central bank. However, the universities still prepare the salaries and advice Abuja on what to pay on a month by month basis.

You are clearly here to misinform people as a rabid supporter of the APC led Admin. I put it to you that you have absolutely no interest about the plight of the Nigerian students but the damage and embarrassment this strike is causing for your principal...

Newsflash! The government is owing ASUU over N1.1 trillion naira University revitalization funds minus 7 years Earned academic allowance.

Pay the lecturers their allowances another war but never in naija history have we heard NASS, presidency and governor office are owed salaries for working an average 6 hours daily

I detest ignorant people who seek to shout and intimidate others. Look at bullet point 3 on the attached Doc. and do the shutting up. Observe the key words "outstanding Earned allowance". What the FG released last year was the 2009/2010 allowance, some universities extended the payment to cover 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, and a lot of universities are into a new session of 2018/2019

The government should go a step further beyond no work no pay.

They should permit the Vice Chancellors to advertise those roles as vacant and immediately get replacements for them like what a state in South West did to medical doctors recently.

Get competent and smart key personnel to man the classrooms, what we have today is not only appalling but equally despicable gangs of hangers on overrated copy cats.

Until then, ASUU will remain a nuisance to the system.

More of the challenges of these universities and their funding is kleptomaniac tendency of the administrators and personnel.

Funds for research and development are usually diverted by these same goons that are on strike.

They quickly wanted to tap in on the success recorded by labour on the minimum wage negotiation coupled with the incoming elections to blackmail the government and hand twist them.
Check what was released to the sector by the current administration.

Devil will surely reward ASUU as obviously they serve no God

Some of them don't even know some universities have been collecting half salaries since 2015 and here they are screaming that ASUU is greedy.

Imagine been paid a fraction of salaries by the FG for over 36 months..

No mind them oo.

The first sensible response today.

Our public primary and secondary schools was abandoned so that the middle class will send their wards to private schools created by the elites..

Now the lecturers are fighting for that not to happen, people are complaining. The education sector is need of urgent turn around.

People should not see this from the monetary factor the govt is throwing at us, but they should read more and understand why these lecturers are actually on strike.

Affected student should go and learn hand work..
