When Nissan introduced the Nissan Leaf to the world. The first ever all electric car, nobody knew they’ve unknowingly sparked a major revolution in the automotive industry. A revolution that will see the likes of Tesla and other electric car start-ups spring into life. Today we’ve seen all type of electric car start-ups all over the world including the US and China. Not withstanding, all electric car maker worldwide look up to Elon Musk and Tesla for inspiration and guidance. Now a new electric car is born and it’s called Rivian



RJ Scaringe, CEO and founder of startup automaker Rivian says his new electric truck, the Rivian R1T, says his company is very special because they’re creating Electric Adventure Trucks. He told reporters that “We want to focus on the aspirational side. We want to focus on something people desire,”

He further told the media that his company intends to make products that will be used and will get dirty. He said that he also plans to introduce an SUV alongside the Rivian R1T truck. “We see the space for something that enables adventures, something that enables activities,” Scaringe said.




They cars are designed and engineered at the Plymouth factory in Michigan. The company also has employees in California and the United Kingdom. The size of the R1T is large. It measures 215.5 inches in length and 79.3 wide. The design is so lovely, it looks like something from a sci-fi movie. The design is really something to look out for. It features a full-width bar across the front grill that serves as the daytime running light, while oval “stadium lights” house the actual LED headlights.

According to the vice president of vehicle design Jeff Hammoud, the design is unique in order to make it stand out of the bunch. “You’ll be able to describe this [truck] to your friends quite easily,” he said.



The rear is also similar. It also has a full-width bar across. The car is going to be a real work horse and power house combined. The battery will be of 3 main options. The 180-kilowatt-hour pack that will give the R1T a driving range of “400+” miles, as well as a 0 to 60 miles per hour time of 3.2 seconds. A lighter 135-kWh battery pack will deliver “300+” miles of range and a 3.0-second sprint to 60, while the most affordable 105-kWh option is rated for a 230-mile driving range and a 4.9-second run to 60; it will launch approximately six months after the first two versions do. All three versions will be limited to 125 mph.

You don’t have to worry about charging it because the company has confirmed that it will feature ft charge technology. DC fast charging up to 160 kilowatts. It will be fast enough to add 200 miles of range in just 30 minutes.



The interior is superb and rich. It is full of tech and has a giant touchscreen just like a Tesla. Not much is known about all the juicy tech packed inside but be sure it’s great. The company has already acquired a former Mitsubishi plant in Illinois. The company will renovate the plant and use it to manufacture the R1T en-masse. It hopes to start selling the cars in 2020 and the prices will start at $69,000, or $61,500. We wish the company best of luck.
