FACEBOOK GROUP OR PAGE

There's usually a sort of dilemma when bringing businesses to facebook, and a choice has to be made on how best to reach out to their target audience.

Facebook by default has two very powerful tools which if properly utilized will go a long way in helping a business meet it's goals. These are pages and groups.

I'm prompted to share this because I recently did a job for a client who was trying to expand his community but had chosen to use a group where a page is more suitable.

Sincerely he had done a great job he had over 500 members, a feat sort of.

But how do you make the choice? Which will give the results you desire?

I'm here to help making that decision as smooth sailing as can be. So be merry!

Whadis a page? A facebook page is basically a blown up profile which can be handled by more than one person (Admin). Only Admins can start conversations on a page making it suitable for a public figure or a business and has massive potential in terms of reach.

On the other leg, a group is an interest based community where there could also be more than one Admin but any member could start a conversation.

Let's look into pages further, shall we...
Contents on a page are publicly accessible, can be seen by anyone. So it's great for promotions.

You can easily review page performance using page insights.

Pages support use of third party apps aimed at enhanced user experience.

There's possibility of including CTA's on a page (call to action).

Squeeze pages can be used on a page to get information from prospects.

Your entire email list can be invited to like your page.

And for groups...

They're more collaborative in nature.
Only members can see the discussions within the group. It works best as an incubator.

Any member can share content ( usually based on group rules).

There's a strong communual feeling and bonding in groups.

A group's access can be public = anyone can join, closed = joining by invitation or private = only by invitation.

There are no use of third party applications "yet" in groups, and you can't include squeeze pages.

Facebook has features which make selling possible in groups.

The long and short of it is that pages work best for established brands and can be used to promote businesses. As ads could be run from a page.

And posts could be boosted to reach people who haven't liked the page. So it's also good at getting "new converts"

But groups do great for small businesses within a niche. Has good engagement and is more suitable for "believers "

Depending on your level of influence and "sabiness" though you could conveniently have both, using the page to attract prospects and then the group to rub minds.
