If you are looking for ways to speed up your Chrome browser and at the same time free up RAM, try the tips below;

Table of Contents
1. Use Less Tabs
2. Use Tabs Extensions to Minimize Active Tabs
3. Speed Up Page Loading
4. Remove Malware and Clean Up Your Chrome
5. Disable Unused and Unwanted Plugins and Extensions
6. Clear Cache Memory

1. Use Less Tabs
The more tabs you open, the more resources Chrome uses. So one of the best ways to speed up the browser and your system is not to have many tabs open. But no matter how much we try to adhere to this rule, well we do open many tabs (I have over 25 tabs open right now).

2. Use Tabs Extensions to Minimize Active Tabs

One way to manage the tabs issue is to install an extension to help manage excess tabs. One of such extension is One Tab. One Tab converts all your excess tabs into a list. When your tabs are in the OneTab list, you will save up to 95% of memory because you will have reduced the number of tabs open in Google Chrome.

Another awesome extension is Session Buddy. Session Buddy also organises your tabs into lists that you can organise and rename. Session Buddy can also;

Recover open tabs after a crash or when your OS restarts your computer.
Manage open windows and tabs in one place.
Organize saved tabs by topic.
Search open and saved tabs to quickly find what you’re looking for.
Export tabs in a variety of formats suitable for emails, documents, and posts.
You can also use Notes extensions like Google Keep, One Note or Evernote Web Clipper to save the pages so you can read them later.

You Can also install The Great Suspender, a 218kb extension to sort things smoothly. The lightweight extension can reduce Chrome’s memory footprint. Perfect if you have a lot of tabs open at the same time. Tabs that have not been viewed after a configurable length of time will be automagically suspended in the background, freeing up the memory and CPU being consumed by that tab.

3. Speed Up Page Loading

One of the best ways to speed up Chrome is to speed up page loading time. By using a data saver extension, you can speed up the web pages. One of the extensions popularly used is Data Saver by Google which compresses and optimises the web pages you visit before sending them to you. If you want to do without images and scripts in a site, use Text Mode. Text Mode loads only the text on a web page, making it load faster.
