Two suspected thieves have been arrested by police officers in Ogun state following a tip-off. The suspects were arrested on Thursday, December, 20, 2018, when they decided to give out two Bajaj motorcycles at a ridiculously low price.

Just as the prospective buyer was enthusiastic of offering the far-below market price named by the sellers, considering it as "business", standers-by, who the negotiation filtered to their hearing became uncomfortable and suspicious of the deal and alerted the police, leading to the arrest of the two intending sellers.

Disclosing this awry development in a press statement, Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said: "The two suspects, namely; Oguntuga Saheed and Omotayo Adeniran, were arrested following an information received by policemen attached to Obalende Division in Ijebu-Ode that two Bajaj motorcycles were about to be sold at a give-away price along Okunowa/Odogbolu Road, thereby arousing suspicion of the people in the area.

"On the strength of the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Hakeem Fijado, led detectives to the scene where the two suspects were promptly arrested with the two motorcycles, marked JBD 150 WZ and SPA 272 WG", the PPRO said.

Oyeyemi stated that, "On interrogation, the suspects confessed to snatching the two motorcycles on Abeokuta Road in Ijebu-Ode from the owners with the aid of offensive weapons, adding that their only means of survival was to snatch motorbikes in the area and sold same

The police image maker further said that the State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, had ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squard (FSARS) for discreet investigation, even as he commended the people of the area for giving timely information that assisted the police in arresting the suspects.

Iliyasu was quoted to have described such a synergy where people notice unimaginable happenings like this and promptly alert the police as "necessary for us to have a better society devoid of crime and criminality".
