HOW SECURE IS OUR FUTURE WITH NIGERIA EDUCATION SYSTEM: AOCOED/EKSU ON CALL By Kolawole Adegbuyi ===== Since 2016 of graduation year, Sandwich Degree students of AOCOED are yet to be issued Statement of Result when their colleagues in other degree awarding institutions have been issued theirs. These are institutions that run the same set of programs in affiliation with Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. This heartless attitude becomes so worrisome to the concerned students because most of the students need this result to further studies, seek jobs, promotions and get appointment positions. These are the students that hustled to pay tuitions and even not allowed to write examination if one kobo remains unpaid. After several meetings of the student representatives with the AOCOED management on how to get the issue resolved, all promises become abortive and unfulfilled. The question is, what could have caused the delay in result processing? We are yet to get answer to this question. The headpoint is that the management of AOCOED is heartless and does not have any human feeling. How many of their children are in this mess. We are killing future, talents and morale in this country in the name of university education. Many of the students are growing into ages where certificate may become useless to get employment. Many have lost various jobs because no evidence of graduation. This is becoming unbearable as government intervention is highly required. We call on Lagos State Government to look critically into this matter on why students should suffer in the state-owned institution. If government is truely monitoring the activities of its institutions, things will not go wrong as it is and students will not face hell to get Statement of result and certificate. The entire sandwich degree students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) in affiliation with Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), set of 2016 wish to express dissatisfaction over the oppressive treatment of the students for unwarranted delay of our result and certificate due to non remittance of our paid tuition fee by AOCOED management into EKSU account as claimed by EKSU management. This is so disheartening and uncalled for. It is an act of oppression and threat to the future of the students. Many students need this result to further studies, seek promotion in offices and secure appointment in various organizations. Some of us have lost various job opportunities and disqualified for promotion for non evidence of graduation. We cannot stand aloof for AOCOED and EKSU to ruin our lives due to money laundry, fund mismanagement and embezzlement among themselves while our future is a stake. This is the tuition fees we hustled to pay with our hard-earned money and no student would be allowed to sit for examination if one kobo remained unpaid. Students of our sets in other campuses for the same EKSU program have been issued their result and even up to 2017 set while our 2015 set are yet to collect statement of result let alone certificate. We hereby seek government indulgence to help involve in this matter to investigate the corrupt practices and financial crime perpetrated by the management of AOCOED for their failure to remit our tuitions into EKSU account. So that our result and certificate can be processed without further delay. Many of us are growing into ages where certificate will become useless to get jobs and thereby render our lives into miserable conditions and the earlier the better. |
