THE P-YES PROGRAMME

The scheme is designed as an incubation Programme whereby youth will be directly empowered with Seed Empowerment Tools (SET) with the aim of creating multiple layers of empowerment.

The Programme aims to create at least 774,000 empowerment opportunities through direct youth empowerment over a minimum period of two years.The P-YES scheme covers the “Youth” defined in the Nigerian National youth policy (2009) as male and female individuals whose ages are between 18 and 40 years old.

This Scheme is powered by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and coordinated by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth and Students Affairs.

COMPONENTS OF P-YES PROGRAMME

AGRICULTURE: This Component of P-YES has been designed to fill in the different levels of the agriculture value chain.Beneficiaries will be provided with seed Empowerment Tools and are expected to manage this as a business with the aim of empowering another youth with requisite skills and know how from the proceeds and profit of the business. It comprises the following :

FASHION AND BEAUTY: Fasion is a fast growing Industry in Nigeria and presents our youths with a huge opportunity for entrepreneurship. In this Scheme selected individuals will be trained and equipped with the basic tools to engage in and run micro, small and medium scale businesses within the fasion Industry.  This component consist:

Fabrics and TailoringMake Up and CosmeticsBarbing and Hair DressingPhotography

FOOD AND BEVERAGES: Under this, selected beneficiaries who are passionate about beign entrepreneurs in culinary, smoothie making, confectionaries, fruit and vegetable sales will be given adequate training and empowerment with starter packs to run their businesses. It comprises:

HEALTHCARE: Efficient Healthcare delivery is critical to national development. Rural communities in Nigeria are in need of health care centres to cater to their health needs. In contributing to the achievement of the foregoing, this category will give enterpreneurship opportunities to young medical practitioners to own and run Rural Health Centres in rural communities support services. These category comprises:

TECHNOLOGY ACQUISITION: Under this category, particpants will be trained in the fabrication and assembling of Tractor and implements, Welding, Vulcanizing and Automobile servicing. At the end of the training, beneficiaries will be equipped with tools with which to commercially engage in the vocations which they have been trained. The following fall under this category:

ELIGIBLITY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE APPLICATION

The scheme will be accessible to the literate, semi-literate and the non-literate population.
The threshold for qualification is set at the basic ability and capacity to learn and be teachable.

In addition to the fore going, the following is set as the basic pre-conditions for enlistment;

Applicant must be a Nigerian male or female between the ages of 18 and 40.Applicant must have a means of identification (National Identity card, International Passport, Permanent Voters Card- PVC).Applicant must provide a Second Level Beneficiary (SLB) to qualify for benefitting from the scheme. Ability to communicate in Basic English language and or any local Nigerian language.Provable upright character and a stable mind.Applicant must provide a guarantor preferably a community or religious leader.Ability to secure the endorsement of a local government official.Beneficiary should posses the capacity to transfer knowledge and mentor pairs within their communities.Applicants Must Complete a guarantor’s form.  Get Form Here
