The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, has advised the electorate to vote into power, in the 2019 general elections, those they could trust.

Martins gave the advice at the solemn dedication ceremony of St John’s Catholic Church, Igando, Lagos.

He said that voters should not engage in selling of their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) “because many politicians are inducing intending voters to sell their conscience”.

The archbishop said that people who did that were selling their birth rights and at the same time selling their future for just a few Naira notes.

According him, voters, politicians and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have various roles to play.

He, therefore, called on INEC to provide conducive environment in ensuring peaceful conduct of the general elections and advised the politicians to play by the rules and not heat up the polity.

Rev. Fr Christian Echewodo, pleaded with the youth to be focused and not allow themselves to be used and dumped by politicians.

He advisd that youths should shun political thuggery and not allow any politicians to ruin their future.

Change. No more Tinubu vote.

Vote for local government empowerment

Vote for good roads managed by local govt not some drunks just eating cos Tinubu put them there to eat and so won’t do crap.

Vote for primary health care

Vote for primary schools.

We need to take control of our democracy. We can’t keep expecting Tinubu whose interest is to be president to align with our interest. We are too lazy. And must control our destiny

Politicians have made the people hungry so they can sell their votes during election. Only the few among them are not hungry. This oncoming election in Nigeria will definitely be dramatic as a lot of records will be made in the election. Another level of politicking will surface....

As we all know that anyone who tell you about voting for trustworthy candidate is simply canvassing for Buhari.

Even Atiku will vote for Buhari when it comes to individual to be trusted!

Trust?

Trust, like oil, isn't such a valuable commodity these days anymore.

Obasanjo became Nigeria's president based on trust and goodwill. I remember his delivery on May 29, 1999. He'd just come out of Abacha and Mustapha's detention gulag in some hole in the ground so, the understanding was this: having suffered so much and become so lean (he'd become so emaciated), he feel the pain of the masses the most and act likewise.

I wasn't eligible to vote then but I was confident that he was the man to be trusted to do the job well.

Needless to say, we couldn't be farther from the truth.

Jonathan succeeded his boss based on trust and goodwill due to the Yar Adua charade. We saw how that one went: his ministers are still being chased till today all over the globe by interpol to answer the EFCC.

Buhari defeated Jonathan probably with the greatest trust and goodwill that any Nigerian leader so far (probably except MKO Abiola) has had. We are still seeing how that one is playing out.

So, I daresay that trust alone won't solve the problem.

I might be wrong too but I think we should work towards having a platform or system that steers and keeps focus of government policies both at the planning and execution level on the basic and urgent issues.

How can we achieve this? By looking at those they surround themselves with.

Let's look away from big party with big money and focus on true party with real intentions.

For example, the ADP dude running for Lagos governor. I'd never heard of him before last night's debate. You can check it out on youtube and reach your own conclusions.
