A Nigerian inventor, Akintunde M. Lawal has been granted patent on a new type of alcohol stove aptly named Alcohol Aerosol Burner by the Nigeria Patent Office under the auspices of the National Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotion (NOTAP), Abuja, Nigeria.

This alcohol stove uses compressed air to carry misty alcohol into a modified gas burner. The inventor has shown experimental models of the alcohol stove which comprises, modified gas cylinder (filled with compressed air), modified storage tank of kerosene lantern (filled with alcohol), modified two fluid atomizer nozzle and modified gas burner. However, the two separate canisters containing compressed air and liquid fuel, alcohol respectively would be merged into a Siamese twin canister when prototype of the invention is made.

We should note that alcohol stoves are devices that burn with cleaner energy, without producing soot that blackens cooking utensils. They are also not as explosive as gas burners.
